Influence of Defects in Graphene-Like Network of Diamond-Like Carbon on Silica Scale Adhesion

چکیده
Abstract Silica scale adhesion onto geothermal power plant equipment reduces the efficiency. In our previous study, diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings with low sp 2 fractions and high hydrogen contents were found to suppress silica adhesion. Therefore, present study was aimed at clarifying mechanism of graphene-like network DLC. In-lens scanning electron microscopic imaging adhered defective graphene indicated that occurred on defects in network. First-principles calculations revealed hydrogen-terminated exhibited reduced adsorption energy between Overall, simulations experiments helped establish a model which DLC behave as sites. Graphical

Effect of Catalyst on the Growth of Diamond-like Carbon by HFCVD
Diamond like carbon (DLC) film was grown by hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD)technique. In the present work, we investigated the quality of the DLC films groew on the substratesthat were coated with various metal nanocatalysts (Au and Ni). A combination of CH4/Ar/H2 rendersthe growth of carbon nanostructures technique (diamond like carbon). The utilized samples werecharacterized by...
متن کاملInfluence of humidity on the friction of diamond and diamond-like carbon materials
The friction of diamond and diamond-like carbon (DLC) materials was evaluated in reciprocating sliding wear testing under controlled relative humidity. The testing conditions were a displacement stroke of 100 mm, an oscillatory frequency of 8Hz and a normal load of 2N. The coefficient of friction of diamond and hydrogen-free DLC (a-C) coatings against a corundum sphere in the steady regime decr...

Using DC-Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition (PECVD) system, the impact of pure Co onthe growth of diamond-like carbon (DLC) nano-structures were investigated. In this study, Acetylene(C2H2) was diluted in H2 and used as the reaction gas and Cobalt (Co) nano-particles were used asthe catalyst. The effect of preparing Co catalyst at temperatures of 240°C and 350°C and growthconditions was...
متن کاملDiamond-like carbon: state of the art
Diamond-like carbon films, amorphous hydrogenated or non-hydrogenated forms of carbon, are metastable amorphous materials characterized by attractive mechanical, optical, electrical, chemical and tribological properties. The films can be prepared at low temperatures by different techniques using a large variety of precursors and can be modified by incorporation of different elements such as N, ...
متن کاملThe ultrasmoothness of diamond-like carbon surfaces.
The ultrasmoothness of diamond-like carbon coatings is explained by an atomistic/continuum multiscale model. At the atomic scale, carbon ion impacts induce downhill currents in the top layer of a growing film. At the continuum scale, these currents cause a rapid smoothing of initially rough substrates by erosion of hills into neighboring hollows. The predicted surface evolution is in excellent ...
